August’s organization for ALG’s Year of Giving, Primo Center, was selected by Administrative Professional, Bonnie Piet. Founded in 1978, the mission of Primo Center is to empower families to become productive, responsible, and independent members of their community.
For over 40 years, Primo Center has created opportunities for families to overcome poverty with compassion and tenacity. Primo Center employs a holistic and innovative approach to its work, investing in four key areas to support each family: (1) housing, (2) trauma-informed care, (3) early childhood development services, and (4) integrated physical, dental, and mental healthcare.
According to its website, thanks to the generosity of its supporters, board members, volunteers, and staff, Primo has “developed the capacity to help more than 1,000 families in need each year find safety, stability, and bright futures.”

Supporting others in need has always been a passion of mine, and with the unknown of our future with the pandemic and our economy, it has turned more into a priority to give back to the community.
When I stumbled upon the Primo Center and learned of all the good that the center provides from housing, trauma-informed care, early childhood development, and integrated healthcare, I was inspired to also lend a helping hand.
I believe in the center’s mission to empower families to become productive, responsible, and independent members of their community.
